Free Feeding

I have been reading your posts and had a question about our 13 month old English Bulldog. We have decided that free feeding is the way to go so do we put the food out and leave it out all the time or do we put down more than they can eat and pick it up when they walk away?

Answer
I've always free fed my dogs and it's so much easier and good for them too. It allows them to eat when they want without being in "starve mode" when the dish appear.

I put down more than the dogs can possibly eat in a day and just leave it down until around 6 p.m.  Your dog may over eat initially but will level off very soon.
