What to look for in picking out an English Bulldog

Question
I am picking up my 11 wk. old female English Bulldog tomorrow evening. I have read all your posts and noticed cleft palates can be an issue.  Is this something I can check out on my own when I go to pick her up?  Is there anything else I should be on the look out for when picking out an English Bulldog puppy?  Thanks for any information you can provide!

Answer
You should get a health certificate when you pick up your puppy. It confirms that a vet has examined the puppy and found it to be healthy at the time of sale.

You should also get a health guarantee in writing which states specifically what it does and doesn't cover and for a specific length of time.

If the puppy looks sickly or dirty or smelly, take your money and run. If it's surroundings are clean and the seller shows genuine concern for the puppy and where it's going, then you're probably ok.

No one sells a puppy with a cleft palate, I hope.
