American Bulldog Front leg limp

Question
QUESTION: Hi,
We have a male American Bulldog, 22 months old.  (He is "A Boy Named Sue" but we call him Sue). We feed him Pro Plan Active Adult.

He is very active and gets lots of exercise with our three daughters.  He has developed a limp that appears to be related to his right front leg.  The strange thing is that it is intermittent.  It will not be present for weeks and then start up for a week or two and just disappear.  We've taken him to our Vet twice and of course he doesn't limp while there.  The second time the Vet put him under, xrayed and did a full range of motion exam but did not find any abnormalities.

He tends to limp while walking but it doesn't prevent him from jumping off the porch or running like a wild man after the kids.  He was the runt of the litter but he is a respectful 70-80 lbs now.  I appreciate any ideas or suggestions you may have,
Sincerely,
Joan Alford

ANSWER: Hi Joan:  Well, I am glad the vet can't find anything major with your Mr. Sue, the am bull dog..

Now, what could it be:????  Here are some ideas from NuVET and NuJoin plus - taken from the web site:

I am mainly wondering if he may have a bone spur that acts up once in a while.  This can be the begining of arthritis.  I know he is young but if his mom or dad had arthritic conditions, he may be predisposed to it.

Hypertrophic Arthritis *** in pets has to do with the development of bone spurs. The best analogy to describe a bone spur would be walking on a tack all of the time, because the joint is not smoothly moving along but instead is being poked by growths that are very painful in both humans and animals. This generally occurs as a result of trauma or osteoarthritis.  If he has had some trauma from Jumping over something he may have caused a bone spur to form.  ( I had one in my heel....OH BOY, it hurst and takes a long time to go away)

Try a bottle of the NuJoint Plus - If it doesn't help, they will refund your money .... Give it a 90 day try.
Here is the dosage per pound...

NuJoint Plus - 360 wafers.
Dosage: Up to 10 lbs=1/2 tablet; 10-24 lbs=1 tablet; 25-49 lbs=2 tablets; 50-100 lbs=3 tablets; over 100 lbs=4 tablets

I would think MR. Sue will need 3-4 per day for his weight???

( order code 81098 ) So we can track the orders from Marie ...
Tell them Marie from All Experts sent you over...

Oh, also, make sure he doesn't become overweight...  That is a plus for him to keep his weight down... It will help to ease up on his legs.

Also, if you are unsure about NuJoin Plus - read the testimonies on the web site.  It may help you to decide.

Also, the food you have him on is ok... There are much better out there for him..  After you make the change over to NuJoin plus .... then we can make a food change, too..  Give him a good 2-3 weeks on the NuJoint and then we can get him onto a new food.  You don't want to do too much at once.

Any other questions????  Please ask.

QUESTION: Thank you for getting back to me so quickly.  What do you think is not so good about Pro Plan?  It was recommended by the breeder and I thought it had the right ratio of ingredients.

Thank you,
Joan

Answer
Hi again;  The pro plan is not the greatest for the money you pay.  There are much better with quality ingredients.... Here are the
Ingredients:

Chicken, corn gluten meal, brewers rice, beef tallow preserved with mixed-tocopherols (source of Vitamin E), poultry by-product meal, whole grain corn, corn bran, fish meal, natural flavor, egg product, chicken cartilage (natural source of glucosamine), potassium chloride, dicalcium phosphate, salt, calcium carbonate, vitamin supplements (E, A, B-12, D-3), choline chloride, L-Lysine monohydrochloride, ascorbic acid (source of Vitamin C), zinc sulfate, ferrous sulfate, manganese sulfate, niacin, calcium pantothenate, thiamine mononitrate, copper sulfate, riboflavin supplement, pyridoxine hydrochloride, garlic oil, folic acid, calcium iodate, biotin, menadione sodium bisulfite complex (source of Vitamin K activity), sodium selenite

THE GLUCOSAMINE IS REDUCED BECAUSE OF THE COOKING PROCESS...NOT VERY GOOD IN THE INGREDIENTS LIST ...  ( ONLY BECAUSE OF THE PROCESS OF HEATING IT UP:)

THIS INFO IS FROM THE Dog food Project

very good info:
I like the Innova products....
Innova is a grain free formula - excellent and found in most pet stores...
( also, you feed smaller amounts of food and you get smaller poops...)
Read about Innova EVO.
( you can do plain adult Innova and mix it with Innova Evo)

I would do this after I started the NuVET Plus - You don't want to go over board with too many changes at once.

BEST wishes
Thanks for your questions.
