I have a cat who now when he is mad, because he is not getting the food he wants - he has to be on a diet - it peeing other than in his litterbox. It is just the one area, but this needs to stop. Why is this behavior happening and most importantly, how can we make it stop?

Hi Stacie,

Cats aren't usually vindictive. I would have him checked out at the vet's to see if he has a urinary tract infection. What happens is that he has pain when urinating and is associating the litter box with the pain. You need to clean the area off that he has been using with enzyme urine cleaner. This will remove all scent of his urine. Also get a product called Feliway. It helps relax cats when they are under stress and calms them down so that they start to use their boxes again.
