My Kittens sprained foot

Question
QUESTION: Hi Ali,
I have a similar question to that of Alyanna's.  My 6 month old kitten sprained her back right foot almost 48 hrs ago. When she fell, she hissed and meowed in pain so I immediately took her to the emergency vet when I noticed that she was favoring it.  She was X-rayed and nothing is broken however she is still favoring it somewhat.  What should I do?  The vet said that she should be better in two to three days but I am worried that she is still favoring it two days after the fact.

ANSWER: Alanna,

Has your vet provided your little one with any kind of pain relief?

QUESTION: Yes, two days ago at the Vet's office, but I was not required to give her anything once at home.  She doesn't seem to be in pain now and is trying to do her normal tasks while favoring the leg.  Thoughts?

Answer
Alanna,

Since your kitten's leg has been x-rayed and there were no fractures found and she seems to be a bit more comfortable now I would just wait and watch. If she seems to be healing up on her own and favoring her leg while doing what she normally does then it sounds to me like she is on the mend and you don't have to do anything else medically for her except to watch and be sure that there aren't any turns for the worse.
