Ragdoll kittie - how much company do they need?

Question
I have been looking into welcoming a ragdoll kitten into my home for some time now. I've found a breeder I like and respect. They are the perfect cat for me but I know they're very sociable and dislike being left alone. I am a student with a part-time job, and whilst I endeavour to spend as much time with my cat as possible and will of course be home every day to care for her, as well as my partner being there also, I'm concerned she might get lonely and depressed. I would not be leaving her alone for extended periods and have saved up enough money to have some time off from working in the student holidays, but I'm still concerned. I have heard sometimes it's better to have two cats to ensure a ragdoll won't pine too much. I would be prepared to do this both mentally and financially, but I'm just not sure if it is necessary. I'd really appreciate your advice.

Answer
Hi Clairey,

Cats always do better in pairs. They are happier and healthier with another cat around. Definitely get a companion for the one you are getting. You don't have to get another ragdoll just another kitten about its age. If you get a cat from another place write back and I'll tell you how to introduce the two together. Good luck.
