QuestionNorman
I have a pug and she shedsa good deal but would really like to get a cat. Right now I'm looking at a Maine Coon/Mix with a rescue group (it LOVES dogs so would be a good match) and was wondering how it may shed in comparison to a pug as I've never owned a cat. I asked my vet who I suspect isn't really a cat person as all he would say is "Cats shed A LOT" and even though I asked about different breeds that was the only answer he would give me. I don't know what this one is mixed with but the hair doesn't appear to be as long as a purebreed Maine Coon if that helps any.
Thanks in advance.
AnswerStacie,
All cats shed. The Maine Coons, being long haired cats will have a higher volume of shedding. Cats tend to shed when they go from being kittens to adults and, after that, periodically in late winter or early spring.
A good combing every day during shedding season will keep the hair down to a minimum and prevent matting.
