Vomiting in Cats

Question
Hi Nicole,
I was hoping you could perhaps clarify something for me. My almost 13 year old female vomits intermittently. When she vomits, it normally includes several pieces of unchewed dry food in a yellowy fluid. It doesn't happen everytime she eats and her appetite is quite normal. When I give her some salmon as her meal, she holds that down without a problem. Do you think it's just that she doesn't chew all of her food that's causing this? I am a little more concerned than I normally would be because of her age, but otherwise she behaves quite like herself ( the queen). Do you have any ideas or suggestions? Thank you in advance for your help.

Jeff

Answer
It sounds like your cat might have a problem with her teeth. For some reason she isn't chewing her food completely. She might also have a hard time digesting hard food. All of this could be due to her old age. Consult with your veterinarian and she what he recommends. He might recommend canned or moist cat food. I hope I helped. Have a good night.
