min-pin dermatology problem

I am adopting a Mini-Pincher and it has skin spots where the dog is loosing hair. 1 larger area and 5 or 6 smaller spots. These are not in places where the dog scratches. On top of shoulders, back of neck, back outside of hips and top base of tail.  The hair has thinned and the patches flake off dead dry skin all white.  No open sores.  Do you think it is contageous because I have two other breeding chihuahua's and Lucky is pregnant.  I really need to figure out what this is and what to use to treat.

I would definitely advise taking this dog to a vet before you adopt it.  If it is something like ringworm, it can affect your other dogs.  If it is something like mange, you are looking at long term treatment. It could also be something like skin injuries that are healing and may not be a problem at all.
