QuestionHi. I have noticed that my dog has been slightly bleeding out her bottom at night. It happens at least once a week. I just took her to the vet for her yearly check up and she does not have worms. I have not seen anything during the day it is only at night. Maybe like a spot or two. It has been happening for about a month now. Im worried that it could be cancer? She just turned one in April. She is a basset hound boston terrior. Is there something i can do or should i take her to the vet?
AnswerHi Heather - this is common for the Bassett breed-
I am sure it is the anal sacs.... Here are some things to do.
1. give him canned pumpkin ( two tablespoons per day ) for the next week.
2. After a week of the pumpkin, give 1 teaspoon per day of unflavored metamucil powder. Ever day - this is good fiber and will keep the anal sacs from bleeding and getting infected.
3. all my clients love NuVET Plus - this is a special vitamin and IMMUNE System booster - helps to heal and protect.

I hope this helps - Keep me posted...
Don't worry - With good fiber and a great supplement we can take care of this. VERY common.
Take care - let me know if I can help again!!!
