great dane feeding

Question
We just got a great dane puppy and the information we get about feeding is confusing.
We are not rich but will provide much love and
care for our puppy as she will be part of our family.  I state the money factor because on all great dane websites they only talk about feeding foods that are extremely expensive or time consuming to produce.  When I talk with regular owners of Great Danes (not breeders).  They say that they feed their dogs regular food.  Pedigree, Purina, etc.  Do you have any advice on a reasonably priced dog food for great danes that can be obtained in the US.
Thank you,
Kerry

Answer
Hi Kerry!
Kibble Brands:   wean pups on Iams Lamb and Rice Adult Formula in the red bag.  It's appropriately low in protein.  Feed pups Iams Lamb and Rice Adult kibble for their first six or eight months.  After that use either Buckeye Professional Kennel Formula or Pedigree Mealtime Small Bites.  For danes who tend to be chunky,  use Pedigree.  For danes who are energetic or who tend to be average to a little thin, we feed Buckeye.

This is not to costly and can be purchased in the U.S. I hope this is helpful and wish you the best of luck! Sending wagging tails your way!Nicole!
