There really is nothing available at the store for mites.  There are 2 kinds of mites that we deal with in dogs.  One is called the sarcoptic mite and it is contagious to other dogs and to people as well.  The other kind is the demodex mite, which puppies get from their mothers, but they are not contagious.  The medicstions that we use are mostly special types of insecticides for these mites.  They are taken orally, injectibly, or are applied to the dog's skin. them.
