Microchip

Question
I have a dog that my sister adopted from a shelter. They microchipped him and gave him all his shots, then gave his papers to my sister. I can't seem to get a hold of her so I was curious as to  if a vet could scan his microchip and access his records that way. Thank you for the help!

Answer
That depends on the type of scanner the vet has. Some read ALL chips, some read only one brand. Most shelters use a universal type of scanner and chip and more and more vets are moving toward those.

You would have to ask the vet what kind they have.
