Question
hello, my dog has always been healthy and has had all her shots to date.
my question is recently,(for about 2 months)she has been for the most part acting as usual, but when she walking she will suddenly snap back at her rear end as if she just got bitten. at first this is what i thought was happening, but now its all the time. she doesnt seem to be licking or chewing herself as if she was soar at all. my dog is about 7 yrs old and weighs about 50lbs. there has been no fever, and her eating habbits have not changed. her stools appear normal. her behavior seems normal otherwise. she does appear to be gaining weight since this has begun. but she is still solid with great mussel tone! does any of this sound serious? should i just wait and see if it stops, or should i cosult a vet imediately?

Answer
Thoroughly check for fleas.  It would be a good idea to take her to the vet for a check up, especially a rectal exam to have her anal glands expressed, and her hips checked.  If everything checks out on examination, she may need blood tests and/or x-rays to get to the root of the problem.
