Question
Our current litter of puppies has been diagnosed with coccidiosis. Can Baycox solution be used as a treatment for this condition? How safe is the treatment and at what rate would you administer this drug?

Answer
I have never used Baycox to treat coccidia in dogs.   It is labeled for farm animals and it's use is for the pig specific Isospora. Therefore, I do not know if it would even be effective against the other species of Coccidia and would not recommend trying to dilute it and use it for dogs.  The approved drugs that I use Albon or Trimethoprim Sulfa (TMS, Ditrim, Septra).   The Albon dosing is labeled on the bottle, and I would recommend a 10 day treatment.   The TMS is 30 mg per kg once a day for 10 days.
