Question
What are the side effects of this shot?  Do the first, second and third treatment have different side effects?

Answer
The 7 in 1 is Distemper, Hepatitis, Adenovirus, Parvo virus, Parainfluenza, Leptospirosis, and Corona virus.  This is the typical vaccine used on puppies at ages 8, 12, and 16 weeks of age.  There are usually no side effects, but some breeds are particularly sensitive to the Lepto part of the vaccine.  Ask your Vet about this.  Some puppies have a reaction to these vaccines, which include facial swelling and/or difficulty breathing within 20 to 30 minutes after the vaccination.  This is usually not very serious.  If your puppy was to react, Benedryl or Dexamethasone is given as soon as the reaction is apparent, and again before any other vaccinations.  It is much more dangerous not to give the vaccinations than it is to give them.  Vaccinations are given at these age intervals because the pup's immune system is developing and this assures sufficient protection.  Hope this helps.
