Feeding Amounts

Question
How much food should I be feeding my 25 lbs. 3 yr old Beagle.  I feed her 1.25 cups of food once a day, which is what the bag indicates I should be feeding her. I feed her first thing in the morning but she always seems to be hungary.  Am I under-feeding her?

Answer
If her weight is good (i.e. you can feel her ribs easily but not see them), then you can continue that amount.  However, you may want to break it up into 2 meals instead of one.  Try giving her carrots for treats to help fill her up without adding a lot of extra calories.  Beagles will eat and eat and eat if you let them!
