Question
I have a pet beagle, the inside of her ears are very red, she shakes her head and scratches her ears a lot.  I will call her vet and make an appointment, but is there anything I can do to make her more comfortable now?

Answer
Hi Lynne!  It definately sounds like a typical ear yeast infection.  Your veterinarian will prescribe you antibiotic/antibiotic ear drops that will take care of this problem quickly.  Until then, you can hold a cool compress on her ears a few times a day.  From infection and scratching, her ears will be burning from being raw. A cool compress will help take that burning sensation away.  You may also want to gently swoop a cotton ball around her ear to try to get some of that brown "goo" out of her ears, which will also make her more comfortable.
I hope she feels much, much better!
Please give her some get well kisses for me!
