cat makes funny noise when eating

Question
I am concerned about my 7 year old cat. She has typically in good health and playful. I have noticed that for the last few days when I give her wet food, she would eat just a bite and then start making this small high pitched sound and would take off running as if someone was chasing her. She would stop a couple of times and looks like she is trying to throw up a hairball, then run and hide. She wont eat any more of the wet food even though its her favorite. I have not noticed it with the dry food. Any ideas of what that could be?

Answer
More than likely she has either a tooth that is bothering her or some extra gum tissue that is overgrown that is getting in the way.

Because it's wet food, they use their mouth differently to eat it.

She needs to have your vet look into her mouth and she might need a dental cleaning and to have some of that tissue removed.

Either way, she needs you to make her an appointment right away to see her vet.
