QuestionHi Dr. Gotthelf,
I just discovered a growth on the leg of my 8 year old Brittany Spaniel. It's on the lateral side of her left front leg, right at the joint ("knee" if she was a human). It blanches slightly when pressed, and does not seem to cause her any pain or annoyance at all. It has what looks like black "pin hole" marks on it (see attached photo).
Could you tell me what this growth is, and whether or not it needs to be treated?
Thanks so much!
AnswerThere are so many little growths that occur in aging dogs. Without looking at it, I cannot tell you what it is on the internet. You should have your vet look at it. Many skin tumors are benign in the dog, but they can grow large, so it is better to deal with these things when they are the smallest.
