Black pigment on dogs inner eye lid

Question
Hello there,

I have a healthy 11 month old American Bulldog. He has one very blue eye and one brown eye. His blue eye has a very pink inner eyelid surrounding it, and just as recent as a week ago, a black spot has formed on the eye lid. At first I thought it was somethin in his eye, but as i took a closer look, it is his eye lid. It isn't a raised bump or anything, it just looks like a bit of pigment change in the eye lid. Can puppies eye lids change color? Or should I be concerned???

Thank you for your time.

Answer
They do change color and it's very common for it to change on bulldogs. We have seen them with many pigmentation spots on their eyelids and even their noses. It goes along with their sometimes- polka dot spots of color all over.

But if this grows or gets raised looking at all, even a little bit,  get him into the vets asap!! Black spots that change can indicate melanomas, which are a very serious cancer.

If it stays the same after a few months then it is probable that it's just a pigment change.
