Question
my dog was diagnosed with diabetes in june and we have been giving him shots twice a day since. the vet recommended we do it in the back of the neck but now his skin is tough and he yelps when we poke him. can dogs take pills instead of shots? is there any where else we can give him the shot if not? help me!

Answer
Fern:  He needs the shots.  Pills are only given to dogs that have a mild form of the disease.  YOUR dog is on 2 injections per day, there is no way around this.

Yes, you can give the shots in the hip area or shoulder areas.
Ask your vet for more instruction if you don't understand...
