Chronic cat diarhea

Question
Hello Sharon I have a 13 y.o mixed breed cat that was very healthy and fat 20pounds until a couple of months ago now he is about 11 or 12 pds. He started with very sloppy stools and became very weak.  Please forgive me as I'll try to condense several months into a few paragraphs.

We had taken him to the vets many times now, he first gave buddy antibiotics clavamox he told us to give 2 ml every 12 hours. We that for 2-3 weeks. With no change. Then he gave us Motronidazole 250 ml?(His writing is sloppy) we would give him 1/2 a pill every 24 hours. we did this for about 4 weeks. Then we had to give buddy a break. He was getting weaker and losing wieght stools were no better. He was hungry all the time and still is. before he was sick we would give 1 can of wet food (good quality) a day and unlimited dry food (purina cat chow). Now he will only eat the wet food he is getting weaker. He  still has a very loose stool, he gets stool all over his tail and the house. At least 2x a day. We tried to limit his intake his BM's just got smaller still sloopy. We stopped his wet food, then he would not eat at all. I'm a acupuncturist without any vet training. I've tried rubbing a few points on him, like stomach 36 but he does not like it. I'm sure it's IBS not sure of the cause. He does have loose hanging skin on the Abdomin area. I'm sure I've missed a few details so any questions just ask.

Please any help or insight would be welcome
Thank you in advance

Answer
Hello George -

You are correct to say your cat has IBS. You are not alone, my cat also has this condition and I know it can be very trying and frustrating. My cat is 8 years old.

I believe the cause to be the food, my cat was only eating Purina Cat Chow and Friskies her whole life. These foods are chock full of by-products and chemical preservatives. I also took her to vet and he gave me the "veterinarian cure-all Clavamox". This stuff is terrible it made her worse. I took her to the vet because the herbs I was giving her was not changing her condition when they should have been. I realized about 1 (one) month later, after a lot of trial and error because the vet couldn't help me, it was the food. I began the herbs again, along with Colloidal Silver in her water and she no longer shows IBS symptoms. Once in a while she will have a loose bowel movement but nothing like she had in the past.

I also added Garlic powder and Probiotics to her food and it made a big improvement. Garlic is an anti-microbial and helps to fight bacteria and infection. Cats like the taste and mine anyway eats it with no problems. You can sprinkle it on the food, it will take effect in about a week. This is safe and effective for long term use.

I make my own Colloidal Silver and my own herbal remedies. I will leave my email address at the bottom of this reponse if you would like to contact me for more information or the herbal remedy.

I currently feed her the food brand NUTRO, you can find this at most pet stores. It's all natural and she loves the taste because it's real chicken and supplements in the food.

The loose skin is more then likely from the weight loss, some cats get this with age if they have been spayed or neutered when they are younger. I wouldn't see it as too much of a concern unless you see lumps or ripped skin.

He may not like the accupressure points because his stomach is irrtated and sore inside. You can try this after you se an improvement in his stool. Cats rarely show emotion or pain, bear with him and try not to get upset with him.

I suggest the following: change his food, there are many natural products on the market, make sure they are natural when you purchase them. Try adding Garlic powder and Probiotics to the food. Begin a regimen of Colloidal Silver in his water. Try giving him Slippery Elm.
