Question -
My jack russel is about 2 and a half years old and has blood in his urine.  Otherwise, he seems healthy and active.  I'm going to take him to the vet but I wanted and idea of what to expect.  I know it's serious but I'd like to know how serious because I'm very comcerned.  I am interested in homeopathic treatments for my dogs.  Thanks for your help.

Hello Winnie -

Blood in the urine can be a few ailments. A blood test will be able to help in narrowing down the possibilites.

He may have a urinary tract infection which is very easy to treat naturally. He may have more severe genito-urinary concerns but I cannot give you more information without seeing him or reading blood test results.

A common cause for blood in the urine is Diabetes Mellitus. Diabetes comes in many forms BUT can be treated naturally by adding supplements to the diet. I make a tonic for pets with Diabetes and it has had great results. In fact, I just sent some over to Scotland for someone who asked me about it from this site.

Be sure to have your veterinarian run a blood test, get back to me with the results and I can help you further with a solid diagnosis. There are many natural remedies and supplements that can help your pet, don't be discouraged by a diagnosis, there are many ways to help your pet.

I hope this information has helped you and your pet. Please keep me posted on your pet and I will do my best to help your pet naturally.

Thank you so much for your help, I was afraid I was going to lose him.  I took him in to the vet and the vet took a urine sample.  He didn't have blood in his urine today.....Thank God!  He also tested for diabetes with a test strip and did a rectal exam just to ease my mind, I think.  He told me that since there was no blood that it was more than likely an injury, as if he had been kicked.  Don't worry, I will get to the bottom of that.  I still intend to put him on herbs and supplements.  Is there any particular book that you think will be the best for guidelines?  I am truly thankful for your quick answer this morning, it helped to ease my mind.  Mr. Stubbs thanks you, too........Winnie

Answer
Hello Winnie -

Sorry for the delay -

Jack Russels are wirey little friends and sometimes they can slip and slide into things, so maybe he slipped or skidded into a cabinet or something which may have caused the bleeding.

I would not recommed any supplements at this time. Feel free to contact me again if you see further changes in your pet or his conditions. I believe if human or animal is well, then there is no need to pump the body with supplements that are not needed at the time.

You may contact me at anytime. If you have further questions contact me at wintersaurora@yahoo.com. I also offer a catalog of specially formulated remedies which I can send to you as well.

Thanks and best wishes again.
