Question
Silva,
My 7 year old daschund that was diagnosis with Intervertebral Disc Disease.  She has been put on Prednisone 5mg steroids for the next few weeks and I was wondering if it would be safe to begin using glucosamine and chondroitin?  She still has deep tissue pain, but has lost most functions with her back legs.  Is this something that could help?
Thanks,
Angela

Answer
HI Angela
I would be looking at acupuncture and Bowen therapy for her to start with.  While glucosamine is great it can not be used long-term and there are better products out there that will assist with the condition much better.
Robert McDowell is an animal herbalist and he can custom make a blend for you, or you can purchase one that he has made up.  He also has one for cortisone detox which you may want to consider, considering your dog's age - you want to keep toxins away from her system as much as possible - too much strain on the liver and kidneys otherwise.  Robert's herbal remedies can be taken safely in conjunction with prescribed medications.
Robert's website is:  www.herbal-treatments.com

Locate an animal acupuncturist and/or Bowen therapist in your area and book her in for regular visits as these treatments will also greatly help.

Do let me know if you need any further assistance to look into these therapies.
With thanks,
Silva.
