SICK DOG OR JUST DEPRESSION?

Question
MY DOG HAD BEEN AT A FRIENDS HOUSE FOR A MONTH WHILE WE MOVED.  THIS FRIEND HAD 2 OTHER DOGS.  OUR DOG HAS NOT EATEN SINCE WE BROUGHT HIM HOME.  HE HAS BEEN VOMITING SOME VERY THICK STICKY SUBSTANCE THAT HAS BROWN CHUNKS IN IT.  THIS SUBSTANCE SMELLS LIKE A DEAD ANIMAL.  HE IS NORMALLY VERY PLAYFUL AND HYPER.  HE IS NOW VERY WITHDRAWN.  HE IS DRINKING SOME WATER.  HE HAS BEEN URINATING AND ELIMINATING NORMALLY, ALTHOUGH HIS URINE IS BRIGHT YELLOW.  I AM AFRAID HE WILL BECOME DEHYDRATED OR DIE OF STARVATION.  PLEASE HELP ME!

Answer
Hello Melissa -

I recommend you take your dog to your vet. I don't like the type of vomitting that is occurring, it could be cause for illness.

Please explain to your vet what you have explained to me. It is possible that your pet may have picked something up from on of your friends dogs.

I am also concerned that he is not eating. Try adding beef or chicken broth to his dry food. If that doesn't help and encourage eating, try making him boiled chicken and rice and add Garlic powder to it. Garlic is an anti-microbial and will help fight and kill infection present in the system. This will also help build his immunity if he is seriously ill. Dogs love Garlic and he should eat it right up and this should definently encourage him to eat. Garlic can be given in the food with any conventional medication and is safe and effective for daily, long term use.

Usually when urine is bright yellow, in humans and animals, it is a sign of dehydration and is the body's warning system to intake more water. Try to get him to drink more. If the vet feels he is dehydrated he may inject fluid subcutaneously (under the skin) to help the organs regenerate themselves.

Withdrawal is a sign of depression but linked with these other symptoms I would have him checked by a vet. Feel free to contact me again with the vets findings and I will be happy to help you heal your pet naturally.

I hope this information has helped you and yourt pet.
