Question
Are there any alternative treatments for cherry eye? If left alone (no tuck surgery), what can be expected?

Answer
HI Sherri
I am not very familiar with this condition, but I can say that in most cases treatment such as antibiotics and steroids are of no use and only add more toxins for the body to deal with.
However, from my limited understanding of this condition I feel that surgery IS vital in order to protect the eye and gland from infection and damage.  So my recommendation is to see your vet about having the prolapsed gland removed ASAP.  The sooner it is removed by the vet the less chance there is of infections which can cause a huge amount of damage and trouble later on.  Get in while things are healthy and get the surgery as soon as you can.
Thanks,
Silva.
