Question
How long does it take for polyps to grow?  And how long does it take for mushrooms to spread?

Answer
Hello Tonya,

LEt me guess,  You were the little girl in the back of the car, asking, ARE WE THERE YET?  hehehehe

Corals take a LONG LONG TIME to grow.  The good news is, that they grow out like a pyramid, so as they get bigger, they seem to grow faster, ket word being 'seems'

And different corals grow at different rates.  And these corals would grow better at real life lighting, but we can only give them 250 or 400 or maybe even 1000 watts.  Nothing like ther real thing.

This all affects the speed at which these little guys grow at.

But to give some perspective... I have had a coral, pocillipora, that started off at 1" with three or four little buds for branches.  That was two years ago.  Now it is larger then a softball, and I have broken off a couple branches a year ago, and each one of them is larger then golf ball.

I have a montipora, that was about 4 inches two years ago, and now it is over 10 inches, and I have broken off about 2-3 larger pieces to give away to friends.

Zoaanthids, and other palys, grow a little quicker, and I would guess about 1 pollyp every two weeks or so, bu then again, as the pyramid gets bigger, you will get that one pollp from about 5 polyps

Hope this helps.  Let us know if you want anything else.
