QUESTION: please try and identifiy this coral that cam on my lr.sorry for bad quality as it was taken with my webcamv:P it didnt work last time even though it said you answerred it so please answer

ANSWER: Hello Tom,.

Sorry for the glitch.  We really dont have much access to the 'behind teh screens' information.

I dont think that it is coral.  Does it have 'polyps', or fuzzy tentacles, or is it slimy when youy touch it, or does it smell worse then teh rock when you pull it out of the water??

I would not worry about it, as you didnt pay for it, or rather it is a a hitchiker.

It may or maynot surevive while your tank is cycling anyways.

I would not get the damsel, they tend to be a bit aggresive and bossy, and will pick on everything else.  Maybe get the obligatory clownfish, or some small gobies I like PJ cardinals too.

You will want more light, but you wont need them for a bit, so you can look for used or something cheaper then spending a bunch right now...

I like the VIPER light, from JBJLIGHTING   they make a 70 watt metal halide that would perfect for your tank.

Please let me know how things work out for you, and sorry for the confusion in replies...

QUESTION: ok thnx bill,it seems to have lots of pores on its surface. do you know how much one of these lights would cost because all lights are very expensive but the corals are just as interesting as the fish :P.ps in au dollars please if you can

ANSWER: PORES?  HOLES?  Jus tbcause it has holes does not mean it is alive.

IT could be a skeleton.

I dont know au currency, but lights range from diy $150 to $3k  USD

What size tank do you have?  Is it open top or does it have a canopy?  does it have glass cover/lid?  (If so, take them off)

Are you handy?  Can you handle wireing up a lamp for your house??  Or a ceiling fan??

The viper light, i mentioned earlie sells for about $125-150 used)  New they cost about $350 i think

That light clamps onto the back rim.

Anyways, good luck, and let me know how things work out

QUESTION: ok thnx bill, heheh im only 13 but my dad will probably be able to do it for me.as for fish what about a pair of baby occelaris-only 18 bucks at my lfs.I just discovered how much my prized cleaner shrimp was gonna be.110 dollars so i wont be getting one anymore :(

Answer
Yea, no problem i have several 13-15 year old reefers in our local community...

Cleaner shrimp are about $15-20 over here.

Start saving up and helping around the house, and i am sure your parent would love to help you.

The little clowns will be fine.  I would wait about 1-2 months after you setup the tank to make sure things are going well and you are able to keep the temperature and salinity in range when you do water changes and stuff.

Good luck
