eggs in my tank?

Question
QUESTION: I just discovered small white cone shaped sacs, polyps, eggs~really not sure, things attached inside my overflow tanks on both sides of  my 125gal  saltwater aquarium. They have what  looks like antennae  on the ends of them. There are a  lot!   What can  they be?

ANSWER: Hey deana,

I would love a picture...it could be anything really.

Egg sacs usually are in clusters... groups... and many times they are clearish

It copuld be worms though... they have all types of worms that leave a calcified 'sac' / shell, and they have a small tube from which they might extend thru to 'fish' for food...

they basically just blow in the current/flow and snag little bits...

They are sharp as hell so when putting or reaching into that area, make sure you remember or you will come out bloody...

again, a picture might show they are eggs...

Anyways, i fyou want, you can post pictures and more questions at my new forum at www.thelittleocean.com

good luck and i hope to hear from you soon.

QUESTION: Thank  you for your quick response. I've attached a picture of the 'critters"? Sorry I couldn't  get it clearer. Upon further inspection, they look a little fuzzy. Hope this helps with your diagnosis.

Answer
hehehe,

The picture is fuzzy, and my eyes are old...   I will post this picture on my forum at www.thelittleocean.com, (if i canfigure otu how to do that), and hopefully get a more accurate answer, but, they are common, i see some sponge and some of those 'worms' (I think).

I will post the picture and do a little more research to get more complete info, but everyone has them... sponge is good fr the tank and a good indicator that things are going well in your system.  they are filter feeder critters, which means that every breath they take, filters the water...

the worms are a form of spaghettin worm, (I think), and again, they extend thru the tube a hair like filiment and 'fish' for bits that are floating in the water column...

Thanks for the picture.. and i will look for a more 'scientific name and some links... but no worries on your end...
