Question
i have a 75 gallons tank with stand and a wet dry pump what else is neede to start my saltwater tank?

Answer
hi, here is a list of essentials
a good skimmer(not something you should skimp on)
good test kits (something else not to skimp on)
some form of coral sand or argonite sand substrate
250W heater or 2 100W heaters for fail safe
some strong lighting, metal halides or T5 lighting (marine whites and actinics, try to get as many watts per gallon as possible)
some good powerheads (seio's or tunze are best, your looking at getting 20X tank volume turnover per hour minimum)
get a good brand of marine salt (reef crystals is a good bet by me)
a hydrometer or refractometer for measuring salinity of the water
live rock, the ratio is roughly 1Kg per 2gals so you need roughly 30Kg's+ this acts as your mane tank filter. make sure you buy fully cured rock, this should cut down your cycle time.

from now on it gets as complicated as you wanna make it, depending on the layout of your sump you can have a deep sand bed (DSB) or a miracle mud refugium with maco algae.
both have their advantages.
the DSB is great for culturing the anerobic bacteria that converts the ammonia and mitrate into nitrate.
the mineral mud and macro algae is great for reducing the nitrate levels, its probably best if you reserch these on google or marine forums to see what your best option is.

hope that helps a little, any more questions just give me a shout.
