Question -
I have a black mollie that just had 14 babys and I am sure to have more but my 3 guppies try to eat them so I seperated them into a smaller glass picture. Is that okay or would it be better to let them be out in the open with the other fish? Also I have a pregnant guppie and I think my other female guppie is pregnant. If the one has her guppies in the next few days could I put the baby mollies in the little picture with the baby mollies? please help me with them!

Ideally you probably would want to get a tank divider. It just slips in your existing tank and does not permit fish to get through it, you could place the babies in one section and the adults in the other. You can also get something called baby grass so they can hide from the adults. The pregnant fish should be alright in with the babies until she has them. This would probably be the ideal route to go. Happy fish keeping!!

Lee,
My fifish tank is only about a 2.5 gallons and we arent going to set up the 20 gallon tank until the basbys get bigger. Do they make separaters for the small tanks? and when my guppie has her babys can I put them in with the babys or not? I am also thinking about puting my 2 mollies and 3 guppies in the 20  gallon tank and put all of the babys into the 2.5  until they get big enough to survive in the 20 gallon tank. would that work or do I need to buy a separater for the small tank wich will soon be given to a fish that will live alone or something. well please write back! Sarah

Answer
I do not think they make seperaters small enough for your current tank so you will have to put the babies in the pitcher as you originally thought of doing, just make sure to place an air stone in there to provide oxygen and carefully clean it so the water quality does not become toxic. You should be able to your guppy with her babies without to much worry, if you are concerned get some baby grass to provide a hiding place. Your idea for keeping the babies in the smaller tank until they are large enough to join the adults is a good one. Happy fish keeping!!
