Hypostomus- Algie Eater

Question
I have what I call an algie eater. I've had this fish for 7 yrs. He is actually over 14 in. long.
I am wanting to get rid of my tank but I have this fish and a small one like it plus a small leopard cat fish.
I don't think anyone will take them expecially the Large fish because he constantly has a string of waste coming from him and the tank is immediatly dirty after being cleaned.
Would he survive in a pond...would they all survive. I don't want to see them die but I really want to get rid of the tank.
I live in Ohio so the winters get cold!

Answer
No they will not survive in a pond. Try contacting smaller local fish stores to see if they will take the fish for free just to give them a good home. Large chain stores usually can not do this but the smaller businesses may. You can also try contacting a local aquarium society to take your fish, members be interested in the fish you have.
