Goldish swimming problems

Question
My mom has a fancy goldfish that always seems to be get sick. Although there are no major visible signs of sickness, the head area (that is normally big and brainish looking) has been looking especially large lately. also, it seems to be swollen and has some extra bumps on it.
Many times, he is begins to float upwards and starts to flip over, and most of the time when that happens we rush to clean the tank. he'll be fine after that but after a couple of weeks it will happen again. recently, we changed the water about a week ago and he started flipping again today. i just cleaned the tank again and im hoping he'll last longer this time.
any ideas on treatment?
thanks :D

Answer
Hello,

It could be an internal infection. I recommend a tetracycline or triple sulfa medicine. Either of those are usually good for treating bacteria related issues.

Also, try cleaning your tank every week. This way maybe the water will be clean before he starts showing symptoms and he will not show the symptoms again.

I hope this helps.

Stephanie
