Awkward Eggs?

Question
I am house sitting for a woman who has a 10 gallon tank I think, with a variety of fish in it. Two of the fish are albino I believe with "whiskers" like a catfish. Both of these fish began acting weird and hanging out at the bottom of the tank, they are both still eating and swimming, but they wont leave this side of the tank. Today I noticed small clear eggs (is all I can assume) towards the top of the tank stuck to the glass...she also has tiny little snails that she started getting on accident from the pet store and can't get rid of them. Are the temperamental fish the ones laying "eggs" or does this sound more like the snails...and should I do anything either way? (She really doesn't want these snails, so if they are snail eggs, but probably shouldn't let them remain).

Answer
Hi Kat:  The behavior of the cat fish is very normal... they are nocturnal creatures and literally hang out in the day time.  The eggs... if they are in a small clear gelatin glob they are snail eggs.  If they are arranged nicely on the glass in a quantity of 100 or more then they are fish eggs. If you measure the tank... width, depth, and height and send me that information I will tell you how many gallons it is.  Also send me a total count of the fish and roughly how many inches they are total... for example 10 one inch fish = ten inches of fish.  I have some ideas for her snail problem... dave
