what type of fish is this?

Question
i have had this fish for about 6 months and when i got him he was just a little tiny fish about maybe smaller than a inch. i got three of them together and the other 2 died in like 2 days. the pet store told me they were tetras but i have about 20 other tetras and he is 3 times their size and doesn't look like them! plus i have looked all over the internet and i cannot find him under any tetra categories. i think he looks like a daino but he is too big to be one! he is 3 inches long! my brother in law who has fish says he might be a giant daino. can you please tell me what type of fish he is and will he get any bigger? i hope he won't start eating my other fish if he gets bigger! i have pictures you can look at...sorry if they are kinda blurry!

Answer
Hi Erika, Thank you for the pictures...
Your brother in-law had a good guess. But these are what Giant danios look like-

If you notice any stripes or markings similar to the fish in the picture that's a possibility.

But what I have a tendency to lean more towards is the mystery fish could be a "Scissortail Rasboras"

Look here-

If you don't think that's what the little guy is..then he could be some type of minnow but that would be kinda unlikely if you got him from the petstore.

I don't think he will be a bad fish when he gets bigger. I think he may just be a scissor tail rasbora. ;-)

Best wishes and I hope this helps!
Karen~
