Stocking a 5 gallon

Question
I have a 5 gallon tank and it currently holds one honey gourami he's 1 1/2
inches max and a glo-light tetra which is an inch.

I would like to add more fish but I don't want to over stock. The first priority
is a bottom feeder of some sort, if you could suggest one that would be great
and I would love to add another tetra so mine is not lonely but I would prefer
a bottom feeder over another tetra.

I do weekly water changes of 20% at a times and don't have much algae
buildup I would like a bottom feeder solely to eat any extra food and not
apposed to feeding them their own pellets.

Thanks for any help.

Answer
Hi Ty;

I think you could safely add two little cory cats. They like to live in groups. They should be able to just eat the food the others do. It can be a delicate balance feeding the bottom feeders without polluting the tank so just watch that excess food doesn't accumulate. There are several types of corys but get a type that stays on the smaller side such as;

Corydoras habrosus

or

Corydoras pygmaeus

Glowlight tetras actually grow to be about 2 inches long so adding even just one more would really push the limits of your tank with adding cory cats too. You could try it, but just make sure you continue with weekly water changes and gravel vacuuming and don't overfeed.

Have fun!
