Question
Hello,
I have a community fresh water tank. I have five smaller fish in a 10 galloon (gourami, mollies and one black skirt tetra).  Recently, I noticed that my tetra looks like he is twitching, its like his body kinda wants to float on the side, but he is fighting it. I also noticed he looks a little bit swollen not too noticeable. so i think he is sick but not too sure wut to do!?  I had a real plant in there that died....could that have contributed?? I'm not too sure wut to do how to cure him....please  let me know! thank you....

Answer
Hi,
Without a very detailed description, I can't be sure what it is, but my guess is that he had some sort of swimbladder problem. If it is, you can't cure it and you will just have to hope he beats it.
Are there any small white flecks on him? If so, he has white spot, which can be cured with Melafix, and you should raise the temperature to 30 degrees Celsius.
Whatever it is, do 30 percent water changes every 2 or 3 days, which should help a lot.

The dead plant will not have made any difference.
Best wishes,
Kathryn

P.S. When he is cured, you should buy another 5 Black widow Tetras, as they like to be in groups.
