sunken fish

hi i have a fish that i purchased about a week ago and he  seemed perfectly healthy up until about an hour ago and I seen him just still by a bush and wouldn't move but was breathing so i thought he may be stuck so i manuevered him away from it and he floated upside down then sunk but is still breathing . i have a 20gal. tank with filter and heater. what's the cause or is there anything i can do??

I hate to say but he may be on his way to passing on but it could also be a swim bladder issue going on.

Check your water quality as soon as possible. Make sure ammonia and nitrite are both at ZERO and nitrates are 20 or less.
