Malawi Cichlid Salt Levels

I have read that you can use salt in Malawi Cichlid freshwater tanks. If this is true, what concentration of salt should I have? What type or brand of hydrometer do you recommend?

There really is no need to use salt in an african cichlid tank.  African's prefer hard water and while thrive in a tank with no salt.  You should have that hardness of you water tested to see what kind of water you have.  If it isn't very hard you can use a carbonate based sand or substrate in the tank which will help increase the hardness of the water.
