oscars and cichlids

hey is it okay to mix oscars and africans??

Hi Judy:  Usually not a good idea as the Oscar will grow quite large.. 10-12 inches or bigger and most African cichlids stop between 5-6 inches in growth.  Also cichlids talk in a color language where pale color in african means submission and darker means a threat... with south american cichilds the color language is just the opposite and when you mix the two they will fight til one or both fish die.  Hope this helps... dave
