Treating Ich with newborns in tank

Question
Our three tetras died yesterday.  We don't know why but noticed ich on two of
them.  Removed African dwarf frogs from the tank, left the platys, catfish.  Did
water change (25%), treated with Rid Ich, and raised the temp to 86.    This
morning, noticed four baby tetras in the tank!  They have survived eight hours
now and look healthy.  What do we do with them while treating the Ich? And what
should we feed them?  They jet all around the tank (10 gal), finding good hiding
places, etc.  Don't know how to feed them specifically so that they would find
the food.  Currently feeding the other fish flakes and shrimp pellets.  One of
the catfish, by the way, is getting very lethargic.  This morning, did another
water change and Rid Ich, was careful to avoid the babies with the gravel
vacuum.  How often should I repeat this process, what do I feed the babies, and
when can I put the frogs back in?  Thank you so much for your help!  We're new at this.  Have only had the aquarium 6 weeks!

Update:  This evening, another fish has died, a coral something...and when I just did another water change, I noticed we actually have ten baby tetras!  I don't understand why the older fish are dying off, and the newborns seem to be thriving.  This whole thing is becoming very frustrating.  All we have left of our nine original fish are three platys and two catfish.  They all have ich.

Answer
Hi Cathleen,
Fortunately ICK is easy to treat and you are doing a good job so far. Just keep up with daily water changes (50% is best), redosing the Rid ICH after every water change and keeping the temperature up. I would say move the baby fish to another tank or fishbowl but if you don't want to do that or can't. They will likely survive the ick treatment just fine. I've had baby fish live through some pretty rough things I couldn't control before.

I would wait at least 2-3 weeks which is how long you should treat the tank even though most directions say 2-3 days or so. Its vital to keep medication in the aquarium if the ich parasites disappear, they may actually be in the gravel multiplying getting ready to re-attack the fish in greater numbers. They are resistant to medication while on the fish and can only be killed when in their free-swimming stage.

Best wishes and I hope this helps!!!
Karen~
