Question
Hi,
This is a really weird question and I don't know if this is a good question to waste your time on but i just wanted to have an opionin.

I have this Male betta named Cash. He is sooooo sweet and is not shy at all.  Well i was trying to get him to do a trick and I put my mouth up to the water and held it there for a couple seconds.  Cash swam up and looked at me. But after maybe 5 seconds he jumped up and pecked my lips!  I was so startled I jumped backwards and almost knocked his bowl over! (he's ok though)

I ran and told my mom what he had done and she wouldn't believe me so i tried again.  And Cash did it again!  My mom was really suprised that fish interacted with people like that...

And now every time i walk by he swims to the top and jumps.  I'm afraid he'll jump out and die and I'm not particualy fond of the cover the jar thing. But if i have to cover his bowl I will.  I don't now if you can help but how do i quit his jumping?  I'm not doing the trick anymore cause I don't want him jumping.

Thanks for the help! :)

Answer
Hello,

I used to have a betta who liked to kiss my fingers. This is actually bad because your fish can get sick from the germs on you, so its good you stopped.

I'm fairly sure your fish wont jump out of his bowl. Most fish know when to stop. Maybe you should put a mesh over top the bowl, if you don't want a solid cover. You could probably leave him and be safe but if you are quite concerned that he will jump out then a cover is really the only safe option. It might be a wise investment to buy him a small tank (2-5 gallons) if you plan on raising bettas for a while.

I hope this helps.

Good-luck,
From Stephanie
