Angelfish Acting out

Question
Hi! My Angelfish has been acting very strange lately. He/She (not sure of the sex) has not been eating as it used to, he crashes against the walls of his tank, and just yesterday I noticed he has been vertical for most of the time I observed him. He stayed like that for a very long time and he comes up to the surface to grasp for air. I noticed also that he's been hanging out by the filter as if he is hiding. Is there something wrong with him? Am I doing something wrong? How can I help my fishy?? Thanks!!

Answer
Hi Shannon

Sounds like it could be either ammonia poisoning, or a bacterial infection. I would do a 30% water change, replace the carbon in your filter, then treat the tank with Pimafix for 7 days. Follow the directions on the bottle carefully. After 7 days, do another 30% water change.

Pimafix is safe and natural and cures a wide range of internal and external infections. I've actually preferred it over the top brand antibiotics. Also when you do the water changes, use double the dose of StressCoat. This will help repair his slime coating and reduce stress.

Remember to do 25% water changes weekly and vacuum the gravel thoroughly to remove excess waste. Replace the carbon in your filter every 2-3 weeks or at least once a month.

Hope this helps, good luck!
