Cut

My goldfish seems to have a cut near his face, I've had him for more than 3 years, and he is a large size..... umm.... I was wondering if I should do something about it, or if it will just heal itself.

Hi Maria;

Keep his water very clean (25% water change weekly or twice weekly) and add aquarium salt and Melafix to his water. They will help prevent infection. Use 1/2 teaspoon of aquarium salt per gallon of tank water. It will help prevent infection too. Every time you make a water change, add back only enough salt to treat the changed water and not the whole tank. The Melafix soothes and helps heal skin tissues. Use it according to label directions. It is available at most local fish stores.
