Sick swollen beta fish

Question
Hi, I think my beta is very sick. I have had him for a little over a year now, and for the past 3-4 days he wont eat (normally he eats right away!). It appears as though his head area/front of body area is swollen.  I change his water about every 1 - 1.5 weeks. I just changed his water again and put him under a light. ANy other suggestions on what might be wrong or what I should try?

Answer
Hi Steph;

Warming him up is a good idea. He may have in infection so a product called "Maracyn 2" might help too. It's an antibiotic and it absorbs into the fish where infection might be.

He is older now so he is prone to infection and illness more than he used to be. Bettas live to be 2 or 3 years old and are already a year or so when we buy them. Just keep him as warm as you can and I hope he feels better soon.....
