female beta possibly releasing eggs

Question
My female beta whom I've had for a little over a year now has become bloated in half her body closest to her head and there's a little white string looking thing coming out of her belly. Could this just be her releasing eggs? I hope so. She doesn't look to happy, but is blowing bubbles. Please help me out. I'm so worried something is wrong with her. Thank You.

Answer
Hi Monique,
Female bettas can only realease eggs with a male in the tank with them. The males rap themselves around the female and squeeze the eggs out of her. Male battas are the only ones who make the nest. Your female betta probably is having a digestion problem. You should go to your local pet store and ask them what medication will help with this problem.
Hope This Helps
Kyle
