Question
Just bought a black moore today (Tuesday) she is in a bowl... Will be buying a bio orb fish bowl on friday. What can I do to ensure she makes it till Friday... Since her ammonia levels get so high?

Answer
Hi Bekah;

Oops! It's not a good idea to get the fish before you have the tank. There's not enough oxygen in a bowl, and as you found out, ammonia can rise to lethal levels. Hopefully your fish will survive anyway, but there will continue to be a considerable amount of stress until after the fish is in the new tank for a few days. To hopefully get her through in the meantime;

Change 100% of the water every single day. Be sure to use water conditioner and be sure the new water is the same temperature as the old water.

Don't feed her at all right now, or only a VERY tiny amount just once a day. Food adds to the ammonia level. Goldfish do just fine with no food at all for a couple of weeks so don't worry that she will starve to death. It's for her health to severely limit food.

Unless there is a filter or air bubbles to provide water movement she may suffer oxygen deprivation regardless of what you do.

Please make sure your new tank is at least a 10 gallon. Here's why;

Good luck and I hope your fish makes it okay...
