QuestionCan I use sandstone in our fishtank?
We have three goldfish and one big placasimus.
I want to build a hiding place for the placasimus and we have lots of sandstone sitting around.
Will it end up dissolving in the water?
Thanks for your help
AnswerYes, you can use sandstone in your fishtank. Just make sure that it is actual sandstone. Rocks with calcium will upset the PH level in a tank. Granite, slate, sandstone and lava are good rocks to use. To test for calcium, put a little vinegar on the rock -- if it bubbles, there is calcium in it. Try to put the rocks on the bottom of the tank and then put the gravel in to eliminate the possibility of anaerobic bacteria growth.
