algae eating fish

Hi Chris. Can I put an algae eating fish in with my 2 ryukin goldfish? Like a butterfly loach, or what would you recommend? I've got a real algae problem. I'm still doing the 10% and 25% water change with the vacuuming on the 25% day each week. Thank you so much.  Sincerely, Debbie

Hi Debbie;

From what I have read about them, a hillstream loach would probably work out fine. I have never kept them personally though so you might want to check with some of the other experts about that. Other types of algae eaters are tropical and some will suck on the sides of your goldfish, killing or injuring them. (Yikes!)
